- Track Email Follow-Ups with ChatGPT
Email Workflows
Track email follow-ups with ChatGPT.
Follow-up work is different from inbox triage. You’re not looking for new messages. You’re looking for commitments, asks, and stale conversations that need movement. ChatGPT finds them; you approve the nudges; ChatGPT Agent drafts them in Gmail.

Why ChatGPT instead of a follow-up tool?
There’s a whole category of paid tools built around tracking follow-ups. Boomerang adds "remind me if no reply" to Gmail. FollowUp.cc layers send-later and reminder features on top of your inbox. HubSpot Sales Hub and Salesloft turn follow-up tracking into a CRM workflow with paid seats and required adoption.
They all work. And they all require you to set the reminder *in advance*, before you forget. They can’t help with the loops you’ve already dropped. They also tend to over-collect: every email becomes a tracked follow-up, and the noise floor rises until you stop trusting the system.
This trail teaches the opposite pattern. ChatGPT audits your last 30 days of Gmail retrospectively, surfaces the open loops by category (waiting-on-me, waiting-on-them, deadline, stale), and you pick the one to three that are actually worth nudging this week. ChatGPT Agent creates Gmail drafts for those. You review and send each one yourself. Same outcome as a Boomerang or HubSpot Sales workflow, no second subscription, no CRM tag pollution.
Questions
- Is my data private?
- Yes. Your prompts and AI responses are deletable, exportable, and only visible to you. We never expose individual prompts to admins, teammates, or Joring employees.
- Do I need to take the setup trail first?
- Strongly recommended. This trail assumes you have an Inbox Assistant Project, safety rules saved, Gmail connected, and ChatGPT Agent available. The setup trail (Set Up ChatGPT for Email) gets you there in about 10 minutes.
- How often should I run the follow-up audit?
- Most people run it weekly. Every Friday afternoon or Monday morning works well. Others run it whenever they feel behind. The audit prompt lives in your Project, so reuse takes about 30 seconds.
- How is this different from Boomerang?
- Boomerang reminds you about *inbound* messages that didn’t get a reply. This trail catches *outbound* commitments. Things you promised in your sent mail and forgot to do. It also runs retrospectively (last 30 days), so you don’t have to set a reminder in advance.
- Does this work with Outlook?
- Not yet. The audit relies on ChatGPT’s Gmail connector, which is Gmail-only today. Outlook users can paste sent-mail content manually as a fallback, but the in-flow workflow requires Gmail.
- Will ChatGPT chase people automatically?
- No. The point is to *see* what’s slipping while you still have time to act, then approve only the follow-ups that deserve a draft. ChatGPT Agent creates Gmail drafts for the items you approve. It never sends anything.
- What happens after the 14-day trial?
- Continue on Pro to keep real-time coaching, guided trails, and your exportable AI record. Or stay on Free with limited features. The trail progress you’ve already made doesn’t disappear.
