Why a setup trail before the workflow trails?
Every ChatGPT email workflow (drafting replies, tracking follow-ups, scheduling meetings) runs on the same three things: a dedicated Project, standing safety rules, and a connected Gmail. Set those up once, and every workflow on top of them starts in 30 seconds instead of 5 minutes. Skip the setup and you’ll spend 5 minutes of rebuilding context every time.
The safety rules matter most. Once they’re saved in the Project instructions, ChatGPT cannot send, archive, delete, label, mark as read, unsubscribe, or create rules without you explicitly approving the exact action first. That boundary is the difference between "AI helps me with email" and "AI changed my inbox while I was at lunch." We save the rules *before* connecting Gmail so the boundary is in place from the first prompt.

- Is my data private?
- Yes. Your prompts and AI responses are deletable, exportable, and only visible to you. We never expose individual prompts to admins, teammates, or Joring employees.
- Do I need ChatGPT Plus, Team, or Enterprise?
- Yes. The Project + Gmail connector workflow requires a paid ChatGPT plan. Free-tier accounts can read the lessons but won’t be able to complete the setup steps.
- Do I need ChatGPT Agent?
- Not for this setup trail. The setup is entirely read-only. Agent is only required later, in the trails that create Gmail drafts on your behalf (Draft Email Replies, Track Email Follow-Ups, Schedule Meetings). The setup trail teaches you to check whether Agent is available in your account.
- What about Outlook? I don’t use Gmail.
- The ChatGPT-side setup (Project, safety rules) applies to any mailbox. The connector step is Gmail-specific because Gmail is the only mailbox ChatGPT currently supports natively. Outlook users can complete a manual fallback by pasting email text into ChatGPT, but the in-flow workflow requires Gmail.
- How long does this take?
- About 10 minutes if you already have a paid ChatGPT plan and Gmail. Closer to 15 if your company gates Gmail connectors and you need to confirm policy first.
- What happens after the 14-day trial?
- Continue on Pro to keep real-time coaching, guided trails, and your exportable AI record. Or stay on Free with limited features. The trail progress you’ve already made doesn’t disappear.
